2.3.19 + PIIX4 ACPI support = kernel panic

The kernel panics at my machine when I enable the PIIX4 ACPI support. Here is
the message:

Found PIIX4 ACPI device at 4000
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:04

The last time it worked was on 2.3.13 (I think) and the ACPI device used to be
found at 4001.
