I'll cast my vote for ascii or uuencode. Microsoft Windows is extremely
common as well - that doesn't mean we should use that, does it?

I can understand using an encoding scheme for graphics, but I'm really not
thrilled about using an encoding for text. Neither is Linus, by the way.
