Common problem with some configurations. If you have only aic7xxx then
rebuild the kernel and REMOVE all other vendor's scsi lowlevel drivers
except aic7xxx.

If that does not work, it might be trouble on your PCI bus or BIOS. I had
one motherboard that never would boot an aic7xxx
