Adaptec RAIDPort support?

I was wondering if Adaptec's RAIDport adapters are supported under
Linux? I understand that it is a bootable hardware RAID solution and was
wondering if to Linux it simply looked like a single drive on the
onboard 7xxx SCSI card.
