That's what i expected also, and i have no way of explaining
my results with this; it doesn't occur on this box with
2.2.10-ac10 or any other kernel except 2.3.11-pre8.

i'm running an AMD K6, model 6 stepping 2. 2 * 32 megs of DIMM.

i'm using egcs-19990616, libs are glibc-2.1.1, and i compile
the kernel with "-march=k6"
