2.2.9ac4 and ac5 seem to have problems with quotas. Booting hangs in
quotaon. I have recorded a couple of EIP values (for ac5):

0010:[add_dquot_ref+100/136]
0010:[add_dquot_ref+56/136]
0010:[add_dquot_ref+105/136]

0010:[add_dquot_ref+66/136]
The filesystem in question is root. When this happens, the magic SysReq
Sync and Unmount keys don't work.
Compiler is:
gcc version egcs-2.91.62 19990224 (egcs-1.1.2 pre-release-2)
The same configurations works just fine with plain 2.2.9.
