I have the almost the same problem with 2.3.x kernels, where x >= 3.
Instead of hanging, the probe is skipped for no apparent reason. This
could indicate an egcs/gcc bug triggered by that code, although
I have not looked into that. Bill, what gcc are you compiling the
kernel with?
