I'm not using xcdroast, or any front-end to cdrecord or mkisofs.

I'm not using a SCSI controller as such. The CDD3610 is an ATAPI
device; the software accesses it through ide-scsi emulation.

I haven't tested the system under 2.3.X yet; maybe I should.
