GNU fanatics have released version 2.1 of the LGPL, renaming
it from Library General Public License to Lesser General
Public License. The new license seems to be part of the
campaign to to drive free software developers toward the
standard GPL, no doubt dividing the open source movement
even more - as we know, the GPL is not only incompatible
with commercial licenses but also with other open source
licenses (such as the BSD-style license).

The GNU attempts to take credit for Linux also continue:

... "the whole GNU operating system, as well
as its variant, the GNU/Linux operating system"

As usual the LGPL allows "hijacking" of LGPL code,
restricting its use exclusively to other GPL software. In
a sense, similar to making BSD-licensed source non-open:

"You may opt to apply the terms of the ordinary
GNU General Public License instead of this License
to a given copy of the Library"
