1. Short desc.: Unable to mount CD-ROM in SCSI-CD-ROM-drive with driver build
as a module. Error message says some modules are missing.
2. Full report: As I wanted to mount a CD-ROM in a CD-ROM-drive on second SCSI
BUS the following message appears:
mount: the kernel does not recognize /dev/scd0 as a block device
(maybe `insmod driver'?)
A view to the modules list with lsmod shows the following:
Module Size Used by
sr_mod 15836 0 (autoclean) (unused)
cdrom 11996 0 (autoclean) [sr_mod]
scsi_mod 53124 1 (autoclean) [sr_mod]
isofs 16844 0 (autoclean) (unused)
serial 41928 1 (autoclean)
memstat 1352 0 (unused)
nls_iso8859-1 2024 2 (autoclean)
vfat 11144 2 (autoclean)
nls_cp437 3548 10 (autoclean)
msdos 7532 8 (autoclean)
fat 23772 10 (autoclean) [vfat msdos]
This looks correct so the error message became strange. Since syslog messages
are redirected to a file and to tty9 I was able to see the following:
Apr 25 19:49:04 ERININ kernel: ncr53c8xx: IO region 0xdc00 to 0xdc7f is in use
Apr 25 19:49:04 ERININ kernel: ncr53c8xx: IO region 0xd800 to 0xd87f is in use

/lib/modules/2.2.3/scsi/ncr53c8xx.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
This is a correct reaction since the ncr53c8xx driver is inserted into the
kernel due to boot action is done from SCSI HDD. Only CD and Generic support
are build as modules.

7.5.
X. Nothing at all.
Appendix: The kernel tries to load a driver allready incorporated in the
kernel and fails. That's this error loke like. That could be caused by errors
in sources but allready in scripts too. So I'm not able to determine who is
responsible to debug this error.
