I don't think thats much the case. Try 'high end disk subsystems make
the scsi midlayer look crap'.

You need to remove that bottleneck then benchmark again.

Reiserfs looks very interesting. Until the scsi midlayer is cured in 2.3.x
though it won't be a big help.
