I wish they would, but they won't if they only use Windows.
Even Win64 will have sizeof(long)==4. Oh well, Win64 sucks.
(people were expected to use Microsoft data types like WORD)

I believe this violates ANSI C, since a Win64 pointer can not
be cast to a long and back without damage.
