glibc-2.0.7-19 / gcc-2.8.0-2. ever since i changed the kernel to 2.2.x, i
found error messages in /var/log/messages:

Feb 15 23:43:35 atlas kernel: Loaded 4922 symbols from /boot/System.map.
Feb 15 23:43:35 atlas kernel: Symbols match kernel version 2.2.1.
Feb 15 23:43:35 atlas kernel: Error seeking in /dev/kmem

i already searched the archives at http://www.egroups.com but could not
