More troubles with Linux NFS

I'm running kernel 2.2.1 with Alan's NFS 8 byte cookie fix. But
I'm still running into problems. The first is the state of lockd. Here's
the output to

ps axl | grep lockd

FLAGS UID PID PPID PRI NI SIZE RSS WCHAN STA TTY TIME COMMAND
Kernel 2.2.1, Machine 1:
40 0 205 1 0 0 0 0 end SW ? 0:00 (lockd)
Kernel 2.2.1, Machine 2:
40 0 199 1 0 0 0 0 end SW ? 0:00 (lockd)
Kernel 2.2.1, Machine 3:
40 0 325 323 0 0 0 0 end SW ? 0:00 (lockd)
Kernel 2.2.1, Machine 4:
40 0 198 1 0 0 0 0 end SW ? 0:00 (lockd)
Kernel 2.1.125:
40 0 259 256 0 0 0 0 svc_recvSW ? 0:00 (lockd)

Also, I get many errors in /var/log/message about NFS problems.

Feb 12 16:11:48 pan kernel: __nfs_fhget: inode 51624196 busy, i_count=2, i_nlink=1
Feb 12 16:11:48 pan kernel: nfs_free_dentries: found events9874/RAMESSES_IOUDITH.data, d_count=0, hashed=1
Feb 12 16:11:48 pan kernel: nfs_dentry_delete: events9874/RAMESSES_IOUDITH.data: ino=51624196, count=2, nlink=1

And, additionally, I have a large build up of zombie processes on
all the machines which use IRIX as a NFS server:

# ps ax | grep zombie | wc -l
187

What can I be looking at to fix these problems? This is pretty
critical for me.
