Hi,

my server with Linux 2.0.pre37-5 occasionally gets very slow on eth0.
The problem can be seen in the following ping output:

64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=31 ttl=64 time=518.4 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=33 ttl=64 time=6.2 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=32 ttl=64 time=1007.1 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=34 ttl=64 time=1627.3 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=35 ttl=64 time=628.2 ms

I didn't observe this problem with 2.0.36 (yet). Maybe this is because
I installed a second network card about the same time.

Taking the interface down an up again helps but even after that it
doesn't work well:

64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=7.5 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=4.1 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=1.7 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=6 ttl=64 time=1.6 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=7 ttl=64 time=4.2 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=8 ttl=64 time=2.0 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=9 ttl=64 time=30.1 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=10 ttl=64 time=30.8 ms
64 bytes from 172.30.2.8: icmp_seq=11 ttl=64 time=6.9 ms

BTW the VIA Rhine driver seems to perform rather badly. Any ideas?
And why is the VIA Rhine message duplicated? And why does it detect
a VT3043 when my the chip on my card is a VT86C100A?

Thanks,
