Status of ROOT_NFS feature?

Hi,

what is the status of the ROOT_NFS
feature? Apparently the recent 2.1.x
and 2.2.0.preX don't have this
feature in the configuration file
anymore. Will this nice feature
which is neccessary to setup diskless
X-Terminals not be supported by the
2.2.x series?
