first experienced 2.1.132
last working 2.1.125
remains in 2.2.0-pre7-ac6
no intermediates tried yet

SuSE 6.0, glibc-2.0.7pre6

strace(3.1) -e trace=file communicator-4.08_glibc 2> /tmp/trace

is a reliable way to boot otherwise reliable machines
(both my laptop and a P2 desktop)

Small programs like ls can be traced without problems.
The acroread start-script is another crash candidate.
My first assumption was some fork/exec stuff but a small
fork/exec prograsm does not crash.

In case you are not able to reproduce this behaviour please
notify me and I will test on anything I can get my hands on.
