Conner TR800 (was it ?), working fine (alas the noise...) under 2.2.0-pre6.

[root@dogbert /download]# tar tvf /dev/rft0
drwxrwxrwt asuardi/root 0 1998-07-18 00:28 ./
-rw-r--r-- asuardi/users 99534 1998-03-31 02:04 sysvinit-2.74.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- asuardi/users 87008 1998-03-31 02:06 sysklogd-1.3-25.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- asuardi/users 86183 1998-04-30 23:30 procps-1.2.7-1.i386.rpm
-rw-r--r-- asuardi/users 669916 1998-05-08 20:47 ppp-2.3.5.tar.gz
...etc, etc.

Only nit is that module count appears wrong for the hand-modprobed
zftape module (negative):

[root@dogbert /download]# lsmod
Module Size Used by
zftape 37740 -1
ftape 79708 0 (autoclean) [zftape]
ppp_deflate 39384 0 (autoclean)
bsd_comp 3484 0 (autoclean)
ppp 17288 0 (autoclean) [ppp_deflate bsd_comp]
slhc 4096 0 (autoclean) [ppp]
floppy 44088 0 (autoclean)

also, a Ctrl-C will scream:

works though...
