I don't think it's actually connected with your kernel as the link in
question is recreated during RedHat's boot process. The following
procedure will fix the problem for you:

1. Boot into 2.0.36

2. Type the following command:

uname -a > /lib/modules/2.0.36/.rhkmvtag

After doing that, you'll find that the correct link will be created
for 2.0.34 or 2.0.36 as appropriate...
