Hi!

Since Linux 2.2 expects the user to install a number of new tools anyway, as per
Documentation/Changes, would it not be reasonable to expect the user to install a
new lilo as well?

Because bzImage is the 'new' type. There is no reason not to use it except
that it won't work with old tools or on some old computers.
