This was probably reported already, but...

make xconfig croaks.

$make xconfig

Ooops
Error in startup script: invalid command name "clear_choices"
while executing
"clear_choices"

invoked from within
"read_config $defaults"
(file "scripts/kconfig.tk" line 488)
make: *** [xconfig] Error 1
