This problem is probably due to a bug in the Solaris 2.5 server. See
the comments about this in write.c, however since I haven't got any
such servers to test with, I cannot be sure...

Could you please use 'dmesg' or your kernel syslog to look for
messages of the type

'nfs_writepage_sync: inode xxx got yyy'
or
'nfs_wback_result: inode xxx, got yyy'

that coincide with your write attempts...
