I have Linux (Slackware, kernel v 2.0.35) installed on my PC
(in fact copied from my friend's HD). So far I do not use it actively.
My PC experience occasional keyboard lockups when under Linux.
Everything is still running (once it happened right in the middle of
kernel recompilation) but system don't respond to keyboard.
Even keyboard LEDs cannot be toggled. So I have to push RESET
and wait for 5 GB ext2 partition to be fsck'ed on the next Linux boot.
Really tired of that, thinking of commenting out "fsck -A -a" in rc.S.
Note: this happens randomly, regardless of what I do with the system.
I commented out mouse driver and national keyboard support and that
didn't
help. Once it happened right at kernel initialization, so I think
it is not caused by buggy user-level programs.
I tried to work with another keyboard (10-year old 101-key model from
286)
with same result (it works for some time then locks). Both keyboards
work
with no problems under MS-DOS and Windoze on the same PC.
Do anyone know of/have similar problems? What can I do to investigate
this
problem? Can I force kernel to periodically reinitialize keyboard
to get it in usable state?
