Note that unfsd has no special powers - its a normal application

Thats testable - turn it off for a while

I've got several (numerous) in fact reports that basically go

"machine runs fine PCI dma controlled disk blah blah except when using
DMA driven blah blah network card"

See if heavy ftps to that partition do bad things
