/proc files, mmap fails!

Hello,

I'm running a 2.0.34 kernel.

I tried to mmap a file in /proc. It failed with errorno as 19, ENODEV I
guess.

I understand that /proc is a pseudo file system and mmap support may not be
there currently.

I would like to know if there are plans to support mmap for /proc files or
is
already available in newer releases.
