2.1.127: eth0 occasionaly self-disabling

My system has three times now flaked out its ethernet connection (good
blinkenlights on the card, but won't ping). The first time, I saw only one
entry in the routing table, while other machines had two. A reboot fixed
it at the time.

Twice since then, the machine has stopped pinging. The last time,
'ifconfig eth0 down; ifconfig eht0 up' fixed it. This time, after
'ifconfig eth0 down', the machine started pinging (!). Repeating the
command *did* turn off the interface, and 'ifconfig eht0 up' brought it
back online. It currently only shows one routing entry:
137.165.18.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.254.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
(Don't know if this is important; I know little about routing tables).

My current setup:

Linux ed 2.1.127 #7 Fri Nov 13 16:20:55 EST 1998 i586 unknown
AMD K6-2/333
3COM 3C905B-TX

I'll be trying 2.1.128 soon (BTW, just for another data point, I have NOT
had any lockups, and I believe APM IS enabled).

Hope this is useful,

Eric
