: on a file which is on a NFS mounted partition the process freezes in the
: D state, not getting anything from the file, at this point /NOTHING/
I've also seen two instances of processes freezing in 'D':
(1) lilo, while installing a new kernel image
(2) mount, triggered by autofs (nfs)
This was with 2.1.127-7, with 126-ac1 and Rik's OOM patch versus 124
somewhat merged into it, based on a SuSE 5.3. (Back to 2.0 now).
