Strange lockups in 2.1.127

I only started using 2.2.127 today after an updated PCMCIA package was
released. This problem has occured twice now, and I've reverted to .126
for the moment, which I used happily for a couple for weeks.

Thoe lockup seems to have occured while moving data via the eth0, but as
that's what I use this system for mostly, it doesn't necessarily narrow
it down. What occurs is an inability to enter keyboard information into
the xterms. The pointer moves smoothly, and Netscape for example can be
exited with the drop down menus, however, a control-z on a running
program in an xterm does nothing, and attempting to start another xterm
does nothing. There are no oops, and if I let it sit a while, it does
nothing. Ctrl-Alt-BS works to a point, but appears to not restart xdm,
but just to the login prompt on the first VC. Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't
work, nor any other keys, so I'm forced to use the reset button (hurrah
for ext's ability to recover).

Any particular system information desired can be supplied.
