ran included MAKEDEV script, but seems to have no effect.
still says "fs devpts not supported by kernel" on startup going through
fstab
/dev devices look the same, i.e.:
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 4, 128 Nov 9 10:11 /dev/ptyp0
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 4, 129 Nov 9 09:41 /dev/ptyp1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 5 Oct 18 1997 /dev/ptyp10 ->
ptypa
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 Nov 5 18:16 pts
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 5, 2 Nov 5 17:07 ptmx
pts is empty.
tried downloading the MAKEDEV .rpm from redhat (could NOT find just a
MAKEDEV script), it failed telling me i needed the new shadow-utils, so i
got that and THAT failed because I didn't have glibc, grrrrrr
calgon, take me away! :)
