IP Masquerading in 2.1.126

Hello.

This 2.1.126 box has a problem with IP masquerading. It used to work
fine, but now only certain sites get masqueraded sucessfully.
CONFIG_IP_ALWAYS_DEFRAG=Y and always has been. mtu/mru have been
tested at 576 and 1500 (kernel complains at 1500, though).

For example, two machines on my ISP's site behave differently.
www.demon.net comes through fine, whereas www.billabong.demon.co.uk
(my homepages server) doesn't. Sometimes, the behaviour is
intermittent... perhaps my ISP is changing its routeing?

One site that hasn't masqueraded succesfully for months:
www.news.bbc.co.uk

Any ideas? TCP PPP stalls of outgoing data still happening over ISDN
after about a day's uptime, by the way, though now they DON'T affect
the rest of the active connections.

(PART 2)

Many, many thanks to the volumes of people who kindly responded to
my query about core dumps. Root can't, OK, that's understood and, as
for my other accounts, ulimit was set very conservatively indeed.
Thanks again.

Yours,

John Hayward-Warburton
