But - loading the ipv4 module only occurs when someone creates
AF_INET sockets, and its possible to configure a machine so that this
doesn't occur all that often.
If the module doesn't load/unload often - then presumably, the system
won't demand dial often either.

Like it or not - its still a hack.

Probably you are indeed correct... some kind of solution is needed to
2.2.x even if its not technically the best way to do it.
