He's usually right too. But that other possibility shouldn't be
dismissed....
I think that those "testers" running 2.1 kernels haven't been
interested in running a kernel for over a year. That's why we've been
having 2.1 kernels for a long time now, without anybody noticing the
jiffies-wraparound problem. Now that 2.2 is closing in on us, some
odds and ends need to be taken care of.
Jiffies-wraparound, I think, is one of them. Here in the netherlands,
Linux machines are being used in hospitals. As far as I know, they
don't run the heart-lung machine. But I know for sure that they don't
get rebooted every night.
