Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Linux have a wider userbase
than any other UNIX OS? Perhaps more than all other UNIX
variants combined? That is my understanding anyways...
Granted, Linux does not have all of the features of other UNICES,
nor do other UNICES have all the features of Linux, however:
1) Linux's userbase is increasing at a higher rate than any other
UNIX OS. (Yes/No)
2) Linux's userbase is increasing at a higher rate than any other
OS period, including non-UNIX.. (except perhaps Win95/98/NT,
but this is likely to change as the desktop emerges in the
next year or so.) (Yes/No)
3) Linus has stated his plans for world domination over and over
again. (Yes/No)
4) The Linux drone army is increasing at an alarming rate,
preparing for the coming onslaught, and no OS vendors will be
spared.
Drawing from the above, I conclude that Linux doesn't *need* UDI
because in a few short years, there will only be one API worth
supporting anyway - the Linux kernel API's. This will happen
because of the collapse of all other vendors into computer
history from the lack of sales of their proprietary OS's. Once
High Availability is inherent in Linux, and a few other
specialized areas, we'll be much further in our domination ploy.
Since Linux is multiplatform, we shall crush all OS vendors on
any and all platforms, including watches, microwave ovens, PDA's,
etc... There is little now that can stop us!
I can't wait until the point where free Linux CD's or other
paraphenalia is included in cereal boxes. That truly will be the
cherry ontop of our madness!
Why adopt UDI, when we can force vendors to port the Linux API to
their systems... ;o)
