not sure.

when I resumed the laptop this morning everything came up fine. Tried
some tests (kernel compile; apm -s; wait 30sec; resume) and couldn't
get this error again. ;(

Perhaps it's some kind of race where apm shuts things down and somehow
a stray int manages to be floating around before the sleep?

it shouldn't be. The machine should be essentially dead. Just a
trickle charge to the ram to keep state alive...
