Has anyone done any work to support FireWire under Linux? There seems
to be several PCI FireWire cards available and even devices that have a
FireWire port on them. You can, for example, get a converter turn FireWire
into IDE intended to be used on CDROM drives. All of the high end camcorders
these days seem to have a FireWire output.

It seems like the easiest thing to do would be to treat the FireWire
card as a SCSI card so CDROM support would come for free. You could use
the generic SCSI driver for camcorders and scanners.

Has this been started or should I look into writing it myself?
