I had CONFIG_SMB_WIN95=y which does not fix the problem
but
smbmount \\\\gillian.leinster\\gillc XXXXXXXX -c "mount /GILLC -f 3666"
does.
So CONFIG_SMB_WIN95=y does not enable?
