Boot disk

Greetings all,

We are currently trying to create our own Installation boot disk,
using various updates, as well as the 2.1.98 kernel. This is based on
RH5.0. The installation goes fine, until the mouseconfig program runs.
All keystrokes entered thereafter are apparently completely "raw," i.e.
rather than moving through the selection of mice, the arrow keys echo
their escape sequence to the screen (garbaging up the mouse list). By
using strace, which shows the program in a select (consistently timing
out), and entering keystrokes, it appears that the program is NOT
getting input from the keyboard. However, if I switch to the virtual
console w/ a bash shell, everything runs fine. Any clues on where we
might go to look and/or fix this would be greatly appreciated. We are
desperate and behind schedule. Anybody?

Thanks,
Steve Suson
