Troubles with kernels from 2.1.102 onward

I don't know. I was really drunk at the time. (oldpink@nltc.net)

I can't seem to get anything past 2.1.101 kernels to make it to the init
runlevel stage of bootup what with what I suspect is a conflict with the
SCSI driver and my old NEC 210 CD-ROM drive. I was hoping that someone
out there with far more knowledge than I have could give me an idea what
is causing it to lock up solid. I used the output of 'dmesg' with my
highest revision runnable kernel that I am currently using to give an
idea of what happens. The first attachment series is where it freezes,
and the second attachment is where it ordinarily goes from there (as
with my current kernel). The third and last attachment is my
/usr/src/linux/.config
Thanks for any help you can lend if you would.
