Support for Creative Ensoniq 97 sound card.

When I compile the kernel (2.1.115) It gives me an error when compiling the
sound modules and it stops there. I have to compile the kernel without
that sound card support. But My sound card is a creative Ensoniq 97 PCI...
so what could I do to compile it? What is required or what is buggy in the
sound module?
