dropped packets

Hello !

I read this mailing-list every day (or at least I try ;) ) but I don't have
read such a problem (in fact mails with subject SMP = dropped packets cover
this problem but I don't have SMP kernel or computer !).

I have 2.1.112 kernel compiled with gcc 2.7.2.3 and it seems that my
network card stats are going wrong (a basic ne2000 on isa bus). I give you
a screenshot just taken after boot.

mathieu @ gamma - ~ >uptime
9:11pm up 0 min, 1 user, load average: 0.17, 0.05, 0.01
mathieu @ gamma - ~ >ifconfig
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Bcast:127.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3924 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:A0:65:01:77:2A
inet addr:192.168.1.10 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:1 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0
TX packets:1 errors:2722 dropped:22 overruns:0
Interrupt:10 Base address:0x300

If I make some operations over network (list, copy, etc..), "errors" and
"dropped" increase very fast in the same proportion as shown as above
without network troubleshootings (loopback interface has the same problem).
It doesn't append with kernel 2.0.35 with the same options (if I remember
correctly kernel 2.1.11[012] have the same problem).

Has anyone else experienced similar behavior ?

Thanks.
