I remember having read that the recommended queue depth for the Atlas II
on AIX is 38.
I've found 28 to be a good maximum in practice for the queue depth. There were
a few high performance drives whose performance dropped off when given a queue
depth greater than 28, and by 28 one has achieved most of the performance gain
due to seek optimization that tagged queuing will provide.
