2.1.112 (kmod creating modprobe zombies)

Since, oh, 2.1.104 or so I've had this minor problem of kmod creating
modprobe zombies with pppd.

Today I upgraded to 2.1.112 (and fixed some alias * problems in
/etc/modules.conf) to see if I could make it go away.

I couldn't.

When my pppd finishes negotiations with another linux box of mine, I get
the following:

kmod: waitpid(236,NULL,0) failed, returning -512.

and a nice:

root 236 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 13:01 0:00 (modprobe
<zombie>)

I believe it happens during ppp_deflate/bsd_comp loading because I have
another pppd connection (same box, different modem) that doesn't generate
that problem (and it connects to a site that doesn't use either bsdcomp or
ppp_defl.).

Of course I have the standard:

alias ppp-compress-21 bsd_comp
alias ppp-compress-24 ppp_deflate
alias ppp-compress-26 bsd_comp

in my /etc/modules.conf file.

This is a totally clean copy of 2.1.112 I'm running under, with modutils
from 2.1.85 and no devfs.

More information available upon request.
