Kernels 2.1.110-112: Problem switching from X -> VC.

I am running Linux on an SX164 Alpha.
The last few development kernels (2.1.110-112) seem to have a problem when
I switch from X to a virtual console. This leads to the system locking up
(no response to keyboard/mouse input) and requires a hard reset.

My video card is a Matrox Millenium II. Kernels 2.1.106 and 2.1.108 run
perfectly. The "frame buffer" stuff is not enabled.

I'm not a kernel hacker but if anyone has any ideas, or requires further
information to locate this buglet, please let me know.
