# I'd say the starting blacklist should be
#
# WDC AC22100H
# WDC AC36400L [also 'it work fine' reports too 8)]

'It works fine me for!' ... at least partially. I have two WDC AC36400L
drives in my SMP system:

Linux version 2.1.110 (root@neko) (gcc version egcs-2.90.29 980515
(egcs-1.0.3 release)) #5 SMP Tue Jul 21 19:51:01 EDT 1998
Intel MultiProcessor Specification v1.1
Virtual Wire compatibility mode.
OEM ID: INTEL Product ID: 440BX APIC at: 0xFEE00000
Processor #0 Pentium(tm) Pro APIC version 17
Processor #1 Pentium(tm) Pro APIC version 17
I/O APIC #2 Version 17 at 0xFEC00000.
Processors: 2

Memory: 192796k/196608k available (844k kernel code, 400k reserved, 2528k
data, 40k init)

CPU0: Intel Pentium II (Klamath) stepping 04
CPU1: Intel Pentium II (Klamath) stepping 04

PIIX4: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 39
PIIX4: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
ide0: BM-DMA at 0xffa0-0xffa7, BIOS settings: hda:DMA, hdb:pio
ide1: BM-DMA at 0xffa8-0xffaf, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:pio
hda: WDC AC36400L, ATA DISK drive
hdc: WDC AC36400L, ATA DISK drive
hdd: NEC CD-ROM DRIVE:260, ATAPI CDROM drive
ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15
hda: WDC AC36400L, 6149MB w/256kB Cache, CHS=13328/15/63, UDMA
hdc: WDC AC36400L, 6149MB w/256kB Cache, CHS=13328/15/63, UDMA

The first one (hda) works just fine with all the bells and whistles turned
on. The second is total trashed by 'hdparm -d1 /dev/hdc' (time-outs,
corruption, etc ...).

They were bought about 2 months apart from each other, so it's possible
that firmware has something to do with it. But if I recall a personal
message from Mlord, he claimed it had to do with my BX motherboard
(Supermicro P6DBE) and the method it implemented the second IDE channel.

# And folks: please send me more reports about corruptions, even SCSI ones now.
# Also if you have a WDC AC36400L send me a Yes/No and also a firmware revision
# (see man hdparm).
