IDE DMA corruption: Blacklist all WD?

I disagree with the broad statement that all WD drives are crap. I have
two boxes that use only WD drives (hda: WDC AC33100H, 3020MB w/128kB
Cache, CHS=767/128/63
hdb: WDC AC33100H, 3020MB w/128kB Cache, CHS=767/128/63) to be exact on
this one. The other computer has one. They work fine. Right now this
one is under heavy load about 1/3 of the time. Examples are kernel
compiles, disk intensive data processing (pattern find and log analisys
from projects), and much more. The other one is a web server, it
doesn't get hit much yet. I have had no cases where these boxes have
had any trouble with the disks.

Now, the 1gig and 2.1 gig drives were known to have some major problems,
I won't argue with that. My question is, has ANYONE had any problems
they know were caused by a WD drive larger or equal to 3.1 gig?

I have not, I haven't had any problems with ones smaller than 1 gig
either (specifically 820, 5xx (cant remember), 420, 320, and 120 meg in
size.

I only have experience with them and linux for the 420, 5xx, and 820 I
believe.

P.S. I have had nothing but bad luck with Maxtor with Linux or any other
OS, corruption, noncooperative with other drives, complete failure in 3
mos of use, etc.
