I've done a little bit more checking and detective work.

205.158.226.53 sent an invalid ICMP error to a broadcast.
205.158.226.53 sent an invalid ICMP error to a broadcast.
205.158.226.53 sent an invalid ICMP error to a broadcast.

This is a symptom, but the problems are worse. I get NO network traffic
through the DE450 Ethernet card. Not even arp. tcpdump only shows me
the arp requests going out, nothing is comming back.

I see that the difference between the 102 kernel I am currently using
and the 111 kernel I'm trying to bring up seems to be the change from 0.536
of the driver to 0.540.

alpha PC164
linux 2.1.111
egcs-2.91.51 19980714 (gcc2 ss-980609 experimental)
DE450 -- Digital Equipment Corporation DECchip 21041 [Tulip Pass 3] (rev 11)

So now I'm somewhat stumped, if there is anything else I can try, I have
some time.
