Long-term kernel unfriendliness in 2.1.106?

I noticed a problem in 2.1.106 (and I think in the late 2.1.9x series) in
which I have to reboot after a few weeks of use because the X server
becomes unstable. It isn't long-range running of the X server that causes
the problems, because they occur fairly quickly after I restart X. If I
reboot I can run the X server for at least a couple of weeks without
problems in daily use. System is an XF86_SVGA 3.3.2 on a 4 MB Matrox
Millennium in 1280x1024 with 16bpp, on a Compaq 6000 PPro200 with 96 MB RAM
and RH 5.1 with updates.

Unfortunately I have no idea what the nature of this problem could be. It
doesn't appear to be any sort of obvious resource consumption, and it
appears to take at least a month before the problem becomes noticeable.
And I have just rebooted so I can't reproduce it for the next month. But I
would suggest those doing stability testing run X servers for long periods
of time and see if they see similar symptoms, because these problems are
extremely unpleasant from a stability standpoint.

I am clearly more popular than Reagan. I am in my third term. Where's Reagan?
Gone after two! Defeated by George Bush and Michael Dukakis no less.
