can't allocate kernel memory for module

Hi,

this is kernel 2.1.110. I can not load certain modules with this
kernel:

antenas:~# lsmod
Module Size Used by

antenas:~# insmod soundcore
/lib/modules/2.1.110/misc/soundcore.o: can't allocate kernel memory
for module; needed 1748 bytes

antenas:~# insmod paride
/lib/modules/2.1.110/block/paride.o: can't allocate kernel memory for
module; needed 2768 bytes

antenas:~# insmod fat

antenas:~# insmod msdos

antenas:~# lsmod
Module Size Used by
msdos 6872 0 (unused)
fat 23920 0 [msdos]

Was working fine with 2.1.109 and before.

24 MBytes RAM, UP machine.
