SMP failure under 2.0.34

My linux box (dual pentium 200 SMP) crashed with a similiar
"IRQ DETECTED ... ON CPU #1"
message after several warnings
"CPU #1: previous IPI still not cleared after 10 ms".

I recently upgraded to 2.0.34 from 2.0.33 (IPI warnings but never crashed)

I have a digiboard with 40 dialin modem.
