NO-OPS during Network Connection

Recent kernels (2.1.108) send NO-OPS during the SYN handshake to
establish a connection.

This has a fatal effect on some old Suns that are used in our test-bay.
These Suns will never have a new, less buggy, OS installed. Is there
a reasonable way to remove this new "feature"?

The "fatal effect" is instant death, followed by the need to recycle
power.....

Cheers,
Dick Johnson
